Milan traveled to Monza on Saturday and returned to winning ways in Serie A after a 1-0 win.

scorer: Reijnders 43'

It was one-way traffic while the visitors were in charge at the Stadio Brianteo, but things weren't exactly smooth for Milan against Monza.

Paulo Fonseca's team led the game with 18 shots to 12 and 60% possession, but were unable to implement a real game plan. In fact, against his former club, Daniele Maldini was the only player who showed the most creativity on the pitch and even hit the post.

Thanks to a bit of luck, the eventual winner of the game came. Christian Pulisic tried to play a curling cross to Alvaro Morata, who was unable to score, but Tijjani Reijnders hesitated to bring the ball home. With Milan he has now scored in consecutive games in all competitions for the first time

Even the substitution of Rafael Leão, whom Fonseca questionably left on the bench, could not help the guests score a second goal. Meanwhile, Monza did not have enough firepower of its own and Maldini was running out of steam.

Ahead of the next series of games, which includes a game against Real Madrid in the Champions League, Milan will want to return to their most fluid football.

Nevertheless, the 1-0 win puts them within sight of the top six and two points away from the top four. Meanwhile, Monza remains in the relegation zone.
