1 person was arrested after shots were fired outside Riverview Elementary School

LAKE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – Students and staff at Riverview Elementary School were on lockdown for about an hour Thursday morning after shots were fired in the school's parking lot.

Lake County Sheriff's deputies were called to the school around 9:10 a.m. and Lake County Sheriff Frank Leonbruno confirmed that one person was taken into custody.

Painesville Township officials said it was an “isolated incident involving an alleged domestic dispute between two parents.”

The lockdown was lifted around 10:10 a.m

There were no injuries to students or staff, but Painesville Township firefighters said there were “some rescue transports from the scene” with non-life-threatening injuries.

Painesville Township resident Gabe Cicconetti posted on Facebook that the shooting was an “isolated suspected domestic dispute between two parents.”

School officials said the school day will continue as usual; However, if parents want to pick up their child, they can come to school and sign them out. Please bring your ID with you.

The Auburn Career Center, located near Riverview Elementary, was also closed for a short time.
