2024 Election Updates: Harris Joins 'SNL,' Trump Says He's 'Father of Fertilization'

During his second rally of the day in North Carolina, former President Donald Trump called himself the “father of fertilization” as he described conversations with an Alabama senator about in vitro fertilization treatments.

“I consider myself the father of fertilization,” Trump said to laughter from the audience, justifying his support for IVF, which is in limbo in Alabama following a court ruling following the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade had fallen.

“Katie Britt, the senator from Alabama, called. “Sir, you have to help us.” You have to help us. I said, “Explain.” She said, “About what happened with the IVF.” The judge said, “Close all the clinics across Alabama.” And she said, “Everyone's angry.” I said : “Explain it to me.” And when she explained it, it took me about two minutes to figure it out and I came out with a very strong statement, all for it.”

Trump attacked Vice President Kamala Harris for saying he would try to restrict IVF treatments, distancing himself from the far-right think tank proposal Project 2025.

“I've never read it. I don't want to read it because I can be honest with you: I don't want to read it. Some people got together. I'm assuming they're extremely conservative, that is.” OK. Then they came up with a plan. I don't know anything about the plan. They had a few people working for me or something like that, and it's more conservative, I suppose. And they keep talking about Project 2025, but I said I don’t know anything about it… Everything she says is a lie.”
