2024 Kansas State Football: Game 8 vs. KU

It's time for the 122nd edition of the Sunflower Showdown.

Your Kansas State Wildcats take the field tonight at 6-1 on the season, 3-1 in Big 12 play and a 15-game winning streak against tonight's visitors at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. K-State is 28-7 over KU since 1989, with only two of those losses coming in Manhattan during that span (1989 and 2007).

KU enters tonight's contest at 2-5 overall and 1-3 in Big 12 play. Their best win and only FBS victory came last weekend when they defeated a Houston squad that fell to 2-5, 1-3 with the loss. Not exactly inspiring. But the Hawks are still dangerous, with talented position players on both sides of the ball, including star running back Devin Neal Jr. — one of the few Kansans in the starting lineup.

There's not much to say about this. The Wildcats are ranked and have some solid wins under their belt. Plus, they're home for the first time in almost a month – it's even Homecoming this weekend – and BSFS will be too rock for this rivalry game. KU is underperforming (once again) and has fared worse on the road than at its temporary home. Last year's game in Lawrence was the closest of the series for a while, but it feels like the two teams are going in opposite directions again and it's more likely to end up being a K-State blowout than to a close game. As long as the Wildcats take their opponent seriously, this is an easy K-State win.
