Newspaper presidents' recommendations used to be a source of news. Now they only make headlines when they don't happen. Both journalists and the left automatically assume that newspapers will support Democrats, as they do the other 364 days of the year.

But fast forward to the 2024 presidential election, where we are living through a real-time fact check of the neutrality of the news media and watching the press utterly fail.

Liberal staffers at the Los Angeles Times and Washington Post saw their plans to support Vice President Kamala Harris for president canceled, and the ensuing uproar was as predictable as their usual list of supporters. Of course they are upset. They've spent years pretending that Donald Trump is evil incarnate, but not even the people who write their checks believe them.

Billionaire Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, owns the post office. He wrote an article for the newspaper He explains how journalism has lost credibility, saying, “Most people believe the media is biased.” (Duh.) He acknowledged part of the problem, noting, “It would be easy to blame others for our bias.” long and lasting loss of credibility.” But he didn't. He added that removing endorsements was “a significant step in the right direction.”

Bezos probably won't win many media friends, saying, “Lack of credibility isn't just at The Post. Our brother newspapers have the same problem.” And then he added: “The Washington Post and the New York Times are winning awards, but increasingly we only speak to a certain elite.”

Wapo, Trump, Harris

This advertising boycott is contagious. USA Today simply did the unthinkable and embraced it. A spokesman for the newspaper reportedly told the Daily Beast that the newspaper will provide readers with “the important facts and trusted information they need to make informed decisions.” The Tampa Times also got in on the fun. The era of newspapers openly expressing their prejudices may be ending before our eyes.

Here are three more reasons for the left-wing media geek:

THE WASHINGTON POST SKIPS THE WHITE HOUSE SUPPORT, BUT THE LIBERAL SLEND IS STILL FILLED IN THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE

Giving in to Trump

Journalists at both newspapers threw a collective tantrum over the canceled endorsements, and others in their fields were there to support them. NPR's David Folkenflik asked if news outlets are “reaching back to appease Trump”? MSNBC opinion editor Jarvis DeBerry declared: “The rich owners of the Washington Post and the LA Times have just capitulated to Trump.” Vanity Fair warned that billionaires were “afraid of retaliation from Donald Trump.” And Slate paraphrased the Post's slogan: “Democracy's death in darkness.”

CNN's Reliable Trump Hater Brian Stelter wrote in a special Reliable Sources newsletter: “The appearance of caving to Trump does real and lasting damage to any business that is not identified as pro-Trump.” means not fully supporting your opponent.

Journalists think their bosses might “give in to Trump” because they believe he will win. Newsies are afraid the bosses are right.

FAR FEWER NEWSPAPERS SUPPORT HARRIS THAN CLINTON OR BIDEN

Goes to the postman

Since the post office is based in the nation's capital, there was more of a media uproar over this decision. Current and former Post employees lined up to defend, as always, their open support for Democrats. (They have supported every single Democratic presidential candidate since the 1980s.)

Former editor-in-chief Marty Baron criticized the paper's decision as “cowardice, a moment of darkness that sacrifices democracy.” Pulitzer Prize-winning Post editor David Maraniss called the move “despicable.” He added: “This is not an act of benevolent neutrality, but an act of cowardice in the face of the greatest challenge to democracy in our post-World War II life.”

The opinion page's writers expressed their concerns under the headline: “The newspaper's refusal to endorse a presidential candidate is a mistake.” Eighteen Post columnists gave a general response, saying the move was “a relinquishment represents the paper's core editorial beliefs that we love.” It was the kind of milquetoast phrasing guaranteed to protect their big paychecks. (Three outraged postal workers actually resigned.)

The daughter of the owner of the newspaper “La Times” explains why the newspaper refused to support the 2024 candidate: “Genocide is the line in the sand”

All postmen dream that they are Woodward and Bernstein, still fighting the evil Nixon presidency. In reality, they are a propaganda arm of the Democratic Party and covered up President Biden's obvious cognitive problems until he was destroyed in the presidential debate. They don't aspire to be journalists. They want to hurt the Republicans.

And of course, the actual Watergate duo of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein called the publisher's actions “disappointing” and said it ignored “the Washington Post's overwhelming reporting evidence about the threat that Donald Trump poses to democracy.”

This threat to “democracy” is a common media and leftist lie from media outlets freaking out that their approved candidate might not win. What really scares the Post people is the danger that the Democrats could lose.

Angry Hollywood

Of course, celebrities also got upset, either complaining or even canceling their subscriptions. Because one of the two leading left-wing newspapers in the USA was not far left enough for them. And that angers journalists even more, because the extreme left is their real audience.

The liberal celebrities who are either calling for their subscribers to unsubscribe or simply complaining about the lack of endorsements look familiar to anyone who follows social media. Actors Henry “the Fonz” Winkler, Jeffrey Wright and Jon Cryer, author Stephen King, New York Daily News sports columnist Mike Lupica and many more. Former Obama and Biden adviser Susan Rice complained on X: “As a DC native and lifelong Post subscriber, I am disgusted. They lost us.”

Both the newspapers' critics and competitors got the last laugh. Conservatives mocked the far left's purity test that led them to cancel subscriptions, while The Atlantic begged, “Don't cancel the Washington Post.” Cancel Amazon Prime.”

The New York Times reminded its readers why it remains the most left-leaning newspaper in America by endorsing Harris as “the only patriotic choice for president.” The paper actively hates patriotism unless the staff thinks it can convince a few morons to vote for them.

In reality, journalists don't care what readers think. News workers gave up pretending to be unbiased decades ago, even before Gen Z activists invaded their organizations.

The whole episode will blame journalists if Trump is re-elected. They will never accept that decades of bias have completely undermined their influence. And this happened long before her publishers fled Harris faster than rats from a sinking ship.
