49ers LB Fred Warner hits a 45-yard pick-six against the Patriots

SANTA CLARA, Calif. โ€“ San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner is no stranger to stunning plays, but it will be difficult to top his performance early in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

With 14:01 left in the second quarter, Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett dropped back and threw the third-and-5 from New England's 35th. Brissett fired a pass over the middle intended for receiver Tyquan Thornton .

Warner lurked in the middle of the field, timing his jump, extending his hands to maximum reach and hauling it in for his second interception of the season. Untouched, Warner got to his feet and ran down the right sideline, diving into the end zone for a 45-yard return and a touchdown to put the 49ers up 13-0.

It was the second pick-six of his career and the 10th interception of Warner's career. Warner is the first defensive lineman in franchise history to record 10 sacks and 10 interceptions in his career.
