“5 former Packers regret leaving Green Bay at midseason”

The Packers had a difficult time releasing Jon Runyan Jr. and instead opted for a combination of Sean Rhyan and Jordan Morgan at right guard.

Runyan secured a solid salary by signing a three-year, $30 million contract with the New York Giants – a deal that was well-deserved for the former sixth-round pick. However, Runyan's new surroundings leave a lot to be desired from a footballing perspective.

Despite starting all eight games for New York, Runyan hasn't shown the development many expected. Its growth appears to have stalled in an environment that, frankly, isn't designed to nurture players. The Giants are notoriously disorganized and are known more for their poor management and difficulty developing players than for creating a winning culture.

With the Giants reeling at 2-6 and stuck at the bottom of the NFC East, Runyan's excitement over his new contract may be waning. Yes, the payday was great, but he's on one of the NFL's most unstable franchises – a tough situation for any player looking to reach his peak.

The Packers remodeled their safety room this offseason, releasing players like Jonathan Owens as they retooled their secondary.

Owens signed with the Chicago Bears, but it's been a frustrating season for him so far. His role was reduced to special teams, with just 12 defensive snaps in the first eight games. The lack of playing time is certainly disappointing for Owens, who was probably expecting more exposure after signing with a new team.

To add insult to injury, the Bears have not improved success or stability. As Chicago sits in the basement of the NFC North, one thing has become abundantly clear: the Bears still suck.
