76ers' Nick Nurse talks about Tyrese Maxey's injury against the Clippers

76ers' Nick Nurse talks about Tyrese Maxey's injury against the Clippers

A road game against the Los Angeles Clippers went from bad to worse in the second half for the Philadelphia 76ers.

As the Sixers were on their way to another loss, the team's starting player, Tyrese Maxey, was seen clutching his hamstring on the way back to the bench. Ultimately, the Sixers ruled out the one-time All-Star for the remainder of the game.

After the game, Sixers head coach Nick Nurse reportedly noted that Maxey was dealing with “hamstring tightness.” The guard still has everything checked shortly after the end of the game.

Accordingly Sixers Wire's Ky Carlin and Nick Nurse made it clear that Maxey's removal was “precautionary.” The decision was made taking into account the score and remaining game time.

This season, Maxey has been the focal point of the Sixers' offense. In the first few weeks, the Sixers had neither Joel Embiid nor Paul George on the field.

Embiid has put an injury management plan in place with no return timetable announced after the star center missed the entire preseason.

George suffered a knee injury in his second pre-season appearance. George returned after a five-game absence. He appeared on Monday against the Phoenix Suns and joined Maxey in the lineup. While the Sixers looked better overall, George struggled with his shot. His last attempt against the Suns was unsuccessful, causing the Sixers to suffer their fifth loss of the year.

Wednesday's game was a chance for George to face his former crowd for the first time while working to give the Sixers their second win of the young season. Unfortunately for George and the Sixers, they failed again.

Maxey left the pitch after 31 minutes. He finished the game with 12 points.

As for George, in his return to LA he scored 18 points and seven rebounds in just 23 minutes of play.

The Sixers fell to 1-6 with a 110-98 loss to LA. Now they're hoping Maxey is healthy enough to play on Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers. Initially, reports of the star's setback appear to be positive, but Maxey's future status remains unclear for now.
