86th Annual Fair Returns to Brazoria County | News

There will be new rides, an acrobatic performance and more vendors, including donut and candy apple vendors.

Another new event comes from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. The rodeo takes place October 17th to 19th. Rodeo events include bull riding, barrel racing and team roping.

“There is an Ultimate Calf Scramble during the rodeo, so our top five from each of our races will be invited to the Ultimate Calf Scramble on the final Saturday to receive a small additional certificate towards the purchase of a calf. “So this is an exciting year,” said fair director Tammi Vasquez.

The age group ranges from 12 to 18 years.

The nine-day fair does not shy away from numerous events for individuals and families.

“We’d like to see everyone come out and see what’s happening,” said accountant Wende Hester.

Hester looks forward to watching the rodeo every year, she said.

From rides to livestock shows with cattle, goats, rabbits, lambs and other familiar animals, there is something for everyone. For an older audience, people can purchase canned goods, crafts and arts and crafts in the exhibit hall, Hester said.

“It is important that we raise money to fund scholarships for the children of Brazoria County,” Vasquez said. “That’s the biggest thing. The most important thing is to give back to the youth of Brazoria County.”

There are eight artists planned at the fair who will give concerts throughout the fair.

Larger crowds can be expected on concert evenings, Vasquez said.

Performances begin Friday at 6 p.m. with DJ Lil Charles, followed by Chris Ardoin at 10:30 p.m. Shenandoah goes on stage Saturday at 9:30 p.m., followed by Roughstock at 11:30 p.m

“Get ready for a Creole cultural experience in southern Louisiana,” said bandleader and accordion player Chris Ardoin. Ardoin combines tradition with modern Zydeco.

Week 2 performances begin October 18th at 9:00 p.m. with Jorge Moreno, followed by Los Herederos de Nuevo Leon at 10:30 p.m. The final performances are October 19th with Kevin Fowler at 9:30 p.m., followed by Pecos & the Rooftops at 11:30 p.m

Concert VIP tickets are $50 for one night, but there is an option to use regular admission to attend the concert and carnival. A maximum of 100 people are allowed in the VIP area, Vasquez said.

You have free entry on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and children up to 6 years of age have free entry every day. Adult season tickets are $55 and student season tickets are $20. Family passes for two adults and two children are $30.

Admission on Monday and Wednesday is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Admission on Friday and Saturday is $12 for adults and $5 for children.

Admission tickets for adults are valid from 16 years of age and for children from 7 and 15 years of age.

“Just come out and enjoy the fair,” Vasquez said.
