The Oklahoma State football team's home game against Arizona State on Saturday was hit by a weather-related delay.

Arizona State (5-2, 2-2 Big 12) holds a 21-14 halftime lead over OSU (3-5, 0-5 Big 12). The Cowboys want to secure a five-game deduction.

OSU's game against Arizona State was originally scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m., but was postponed to 2:30 p.m. due to the poor weather forecast. Weather has now hit Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, causing the game to be delayed.

The Boone Pickens Stadium scoreboard reads: “Thunderstorms with lightning are in the area and we are suspending play until further notice. If you are in outdoor seating, please move calmly to the area beneath the stadium seating at this time.”

What is the NCAA rule for blitzes?

If there is a lightning strike within six miles of the sports venue, play will be suspended for at least 30 minutes.

According to the NCAA:

“To resume sporting activities, lightning safety experts recommend waiting 30 minutes after both the last sound of thunder and lightning are at least six miles away and moving away from the venue. If lightning is seen without thunder being heard, lightning may be out of range and therefore less likely to pose a significant threat. Note that lightning can be visible at a much greater distance than during the day, as clouds are illuminated from within by lightning, so that lightning no longer poses a significant threat at night, take advantage of both the sound of thunder and the view of the lightning channel itself, to decide when to reset the 30-minute recovery timer before resuming outdoor exercise activities.
