Marcello Hernandez performs his SNL meme “Domingo” live

Newly promoted repertoire player Marcello Hernandez's brief appearance as Domingo in the Oct. 12 skit “Bridesmaid Speech” quickly inspired a TikTok meme. The entire skit, built around a song parody of Sabrina Carpenter's “Espresso,” was a surprise hit, but TikTok users in particular responded particularly well to Hernandez's catchy verse.

When Hernandez performed at the University of Minnesota last Friday, he treated audience members to begging him to repeat his internet-famous lines from the skit. Five minutes into his performance, the comedian gave in. “Let’s make a deal,” he told the crowd. “We'll do it once and then we'll put our phones away and you let me tell you the jokes I wrote for you.”

“I have to do it,” Hernandez continued, “and I have to do it in the beginning because it's become a thing.” He then led an audience member through a short training session to help him recreate the sketch. The participant replied reassuringly, “I saw it.”

“It's crazy that my life has turned out this way,” Hernandez said before beginning an a cappella reenactment in which he asked the crowd to repeat the lines “straight from Domingo” and “but we joined anyway.” to sing. Of course, the performance was met with thunderous applause – and shared dozens of times on TikTok.

Just two days earlier, the New York Mets posted a TikTok showing Hernandez being gifted a jersey with “Domingo” printed on the back, prompting him to chant, “Hey, Mets. Came all the way here, I have to say, straight from Domingo.”

Domingo's TikTok popularity has not gone unnoticed SNLThis is proven by the fact that his verse was used as a song choice by fictional user Cat Dancer in the October 19 “TikTok” sketch. Does this mean Hernandez could be persuaded to reprise his character in the series itself? Never say never.
