Mukwonago School board member Vito Schwartz has died

A Mukwonago school board member who served on the board for nearly four years was found dead in his home Friday.

The Mukwonago Area School District said in a statement Saturday that Vito Schwartz died Friday. He leaves behind four children, all of whom are Mukwonago High School graduates or current students, the district said in its statement.

“Vito has been a vocal supporter of our district,” Joe Koch, superintendent of the Mukwonago Area School District, said in the district’s statement. “In addition to his work on our school board, Vito was active in the community as co-owner of Semper Fi Roofing and a proud Marine Corps veteran. We will miss him very much. We are a strong community and will cope with the loss of Vito together. ”

It is currently unclear whether Schwartz's death is related to information contained in a press release the Mukwonago City Police Department sent to the Journal Sentinel.

According to the department's press release, officers were dispatched to a residence on County Highway E in the area of ​​County Highway EE on Friday afternoon for a report of two deaths. They found a 45-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman, both dead from gunshot wounds from a small-caliber firearm.

There were no signs of forced entry, police are not looking for suspects and there is no threat to the community. According to a news release from the Mukwonago City Police Department, the investigation is ongoing and the department is not releasing the names of the man and woman.
