Agitated Donald Trump rages after shock poll in Iowa in favor of Kamala Harris: “Trump hater”

The last-minute poll in Iowa appears to have unsettled Donald Trump, who was initially expected to win the deep red Hawkeye State.

The Republican presidential candidate criticized the unfavorable numbers released for his campaign on Saturday and accused pollster Ann Selzer, who is considered to be very accurate in the last-minute polls in Iowa, of being a “Trump hater.”

“No president has done more for FARMERS and the great state of Iowa than Donald J. Trump. In fact, it's not even close! “All the polls, except one that was heavily tilted in favor of the Democrats by a Trump hater, had me completely wrong last time,” he wrote on his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday. “I LOVE THE FARMERS AND THEY LOVE ME.”

Trump's online rant comes on the heels of the nationally viewed poll by The Des Moines Register/Mediacom reported that Kamala Harris led the former president 47 percent to 44 percent.

His election campaign also led to his own dismissal Des Moines poll, which they called a “bluff” shortly after it was published. Instead, they pointed to Emerson College poll results released the same day that favored the former president by 10 points.

“Des Moines Register is a clear outlier poll. “Emerson College’s release today “far better reflects the state of the actual Iowa electorate and does so with far more transparent methodology,” a campaign statement said Sunday night.

Others in Trump's camp expressed similar criticism of Selzer's poll. Senior Trump adviser Jason Miller reportedly called it an “idiotic poll” and Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, claimed the data was “fake” and a “tactic designed by the media.” to suppress voter turnout.”

Selzer brushed aside her naysayers, and Trump specifically, telling Newsweek, “These are the kinds of comments you see in virtually every poll, including mine.” The Des Moines Register includes a methodology statement for every story it publishes. It's the same method used to show Trump won Iowa in the last elections in 2016 and 2020. It would not be in my best interest or the best interest of my customers – The Des Moines Register and Mediacom – to conjure up false numbers.”

In 2016, Trump won Iowa by 9 points and in the 2020 election by 8 points. But despite the former president's positive track record in winning statewide nominations, the Republican nominee's betting odds have plummeted since the shocking poll results.

If Harris were to turn Iowa blue, she would be the first Democratic candidate to do so since 2012.
