MINNEAPOLIS – More than 1 million Minnesotans have voted early in the 2024 presidential election. Many others will go to the polls on Tuesday, and still others will likely still be in line on Tuesday evening.

When do polls open in Minnesota on Election Day?

In most Minnesota cities and towns, polls open at 7 a.m., but cities with fewer than 500 residents are allowed to delay opening until 10 a.m. More than 300 cities in Minnesota fall into this category. Click here to check if your city is included.

You can also vote by mail using an absentee ballot as long as it is received by Election Day. At this point, Secretary of State Steve Simon says It's probably best to bring any remaining mail-in ballots to hand-deliver.

When do polls close in Minnesota on Election Day?

In Minnesota, polls close at 8 p.m. Under state law, you can vote beyond that time if you wait in line at your polling place by 8 p.m

When will the Minnesota election results be available?

In Minnesota, there is no set time for releasing general election results. Each county's election officials submit an unofficial tally of results to the Secretary of State's office on election night.

County officials later examine and verify the results before their respective boards of elections conduct post-election audits, according to Minnesota Statue 206.89. The review must be completed no later than 18 days after a general election.
