Sheryl Lee Ralph, Colman Domingo and more pay tribute to music titan Quincy Jones

The world is a little less cheerful after musical genius Quincy Jones passed away and his influence is remembered across Hollywood.

Quincy, affectionately known as “Q,” died Sunday evening at his home in the Bel-Air area surrounded by his family, according to a statement shared with diversity by his representative Arnold Robinson. He was 91.

“Tonight it is with full but broken hearts that we must bear the news of the passing of our father and brother Quincy Jones. And while this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life he lived and know there will never be another like him,” the Jones family's statement said.

According to his publicist, Quincy is survived by a brother, Richard; two sisters, Margie Jay and Theresa Frank; and seven children: Jolie, Kidada, Kenya, Martina, Rachel, Rashida and Quincy III.

He was a record producer, songwriter, composer, arranger and producer with an incredible sense of talent. Over his 70-year career, he has collaborated with and promoted the careers of many musicians, including Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Miles Davis, Diana Ross and more. He also helped launch Will Smith's acting career The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
