Elton John, Lionel Richie and more remember 'incredible' music legend Quincy Jones

The world of music and entertainment pays tribute to the prolific record producer and legendary fixture in the music industry: Quincy Jones.

After Jones died on Sunday, tributes poured in from some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Lionel Richie, Whoopi Goldberg and Elton John.

The hitmaker and producer of multi-platinum albums, including Michael Jackson's “Thriller,” the best-selling album of all time, died at the age of 91.

Elton John

John posted a photo of himself under Jones' arm on Instagram on Monday, taken at an Oscar party.

“No one had as incredible a career as Quincy Jones. He played with the best and brought out the best. What a guy. I loved him,” John wrote.

Whoopi Goldberg

Goldberg posted a photo of her and Jones on her Instagram Story, calling him a “friend” and “one of a kind.”

“My heart breaks for his family and his extended family who loved and adored him. My condolences,” she wrote.

Lionel Richie

Richie also remembered Jones in an Instagram post in which the pair posed together while Richie leaned on Jones' shoulder.

“Wow, Q – what a great ride!! ❤️🙏🏽 – always with love,” Richie wrote.

Will Smith

Following the news of his death, Smith expressed his admiration for Jones on social media. Jones was an executive producer on Smith's “Fresh Prince of Bel Air.”

“Quincy Jones is the true definition of a mentor, a father and a friend. He made me aware of the greatest parts of myself,” Smith wrote.

Smith continued: “He defended me. He encouraged me. He encouraged me. He inspired me. He checked on me when necessary. He let me use his wings until mine were strong enough to fly.”

Elton John says he has 'limited vision' while recovering from 'severe eye infection'

Domingo penned a heartfelt tribute to Jones, thanking him for his contributions to music.

“I just hope that today we all play his music, from his orchestrations to the soundtracks from Off the Wall to Secret Garden to Frank Sinatra and others, and send this genius King out,” Domingo wrote.

“Without this great man, as you know, there would be no American music. We thank Mr. Quincy Jones for walking through our lives,” he continued.

Finally, describing meeting Jones, Domingo wrote, “I could see music in his eyes. He lived. What a life and legacy.”
