5 stats you want to know about the Bills' Week 9 win over the Dolphins

The Buffalo Bills have won four straight games and are 7-2 in the 2024 season. With the 30:27 home win over the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo is four games ahead of the rest of the division in the win column, five ahead of Miami and New England. Here are five stats that stand out from the recent win.

Khalil Shaki

Khalil Shakir's catch rate completely blew you away, and rightly so; After Week 9, the receiver leads the league with a catch rate of 93.3%. What makes this number even more striking is the fact that Rashee Rice is in second place with 82.76%. What's even more impressive is that Bills fans have been begging for separation from the receiving corps since the arrival of Josh Allen; Shakir is second in the league among receivers with an average of 4.7 yards, just behind Rams wideout Jordan Whittington's 4.8 yards. According to NextGenStats, that number was even more impressive in Week 9. Shakir's average distance was 6.79 yards in the win over Miami.

There is a sect of Buffalo fans who believe Sean McDermott hates rookies and refuses to play against them. Rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman led all skill players with 79% of snaps against Miami. Rookie Ray Davis may have had the most impactful play of the game with his 63-yard touchdown catch. Brandon Codrington was involved in seven special teams plays, including turning the field with his 29-yard punt return, giving the Bills a drive-starting drive at the Miami 37. Cole Bishop, Javon Solomon, Edefuan Ulofoshio, Sedrick Van Pran-Granger and Joe Andreessen also dressed; So much for hating newbies.

Tyler Bas

The Bills may still have a kicker problem, but from 61 yards out to beat Miami, Buffalo had the man it needed as Tyler Bass set a new career and franchise record with the game-winning kick. What might be even crazier is that he is now 9-for-9 in his career in the final minute of the fourth quarter and overtime, according to Bills PR.

Taylor Rap

Many people have an opinion about the safety of the bills, but you can't say they won't do anything about it. Through nine weeks, Buffalo and the Pittsburgh Steelers are the only two teams to have two safeties ranked in the top 15 in tackle percentage among guys who have played at least 50% of their team's snaps. Buffalo's Taylor Rapp missed just 4.5% of tackles (seventh best); Damar Hamlin only missed 7.8% of tackles (14th).

In the other six wins, Buffalo averaged 3.5 plays of more than 21 yards, including three games of four or more yards. Even in the two losses, the Bills had three against the Ravens and four against the Texans.
