Rams don't plan to add players at the trade deadline

A few weeks ago, the Rams were inching closer to selling at the trade deadline. Three wins in a row later, with one exception, they are unsellable.

They don't buy either.

Coach Sean McVay was asked by reporters Monday whether the Rams had discussed potential trades by tomorrow's deadline.

“No, there was nothing we really talked about,” McVay said. “Nothing like that.”

The Rams continue to explore a trade for veteran cornerback Tre'Davious White, who is an odd man out on the depth chart.

“There is a possibility,” McVay said of a White trade. “(General manager) Les (Snead) has had some conversations with some teams. These are very fluid conversations, so there's a possibility, but nothing is imminent at the moment… 'Tre' is a guy I know there.” There's been some dialogue between Les, Kevin (Demoff) and his agent, so we will see if anything comes to fruition in the end.”

If a trade is to occur, it must occur before 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday. If there is no deal, the Rams could release White. The Rams' agent and White could also negotiate a deal to reduce his severance pay eligibility if his contract does not qualify for waivers.

White has a base salary of $1.5 million. If released and not claimed, he would be entitled to claim the remaining $750,000 without compensation.
