All nine City Council members are close to winning re-election as well. All are Democrats and did not face challengers in the general election with the exception of District 2 Councilman Mark J. Wildenhain.

Steering the city through major upheavals

Grebien previously held a management position at a manufacturing company. He was first elected to the city council in 1997 and won his first term as mayor in 2010.

During his tenure, Pawtucket saw dramatic changes: The city lost the PawSox and is now in danger of losing the headquarters of toy maker Hasbro, but gained a new MBTA commuter rail station that will soon have a brand new football stadium.

Luciano is chairman of the Pawtucket Zoning Board of Appeals and previously ran for City Council and General Assembly as a Republican.
