Puerto Ideas Valparaíso 2024 invites a conversation with the profound human experience

Literature, philosophy, poetry, film, periodism, architecture and dance: they are just some of the expressions that will be presented at the Puerto de Ideas Valparaíso 2024 festival, which will be played on November 8th, 9th and 10th in different scenarios de la ciudad puerto, presented together with Colbún and Coopeuch. Enlightened national and international thinkers return with the public to interrogate humanity at a moment when they are debating its relevance and usefulness in the world.

The Argentine secretary and magazine writer Leila Guerriero, one of the most important cronistas of the moment, together with Juan Gabriel Vásquez, indestructible representative of contemporary literature, presided over the opening event of the festival on November 8 in the Aula Magna of the University de Valparaíso (Errázuriz 2120 ), with entrada liberada. Alli, the magazine writer and the writer, from his own experience, out of curiosity and the writer as an important impulse to understand the world.

As I began at the end of a week of relentless activity, after dialogue and reflection had put an end to the protagonists. With the participation of more than 50 thinkers and artists from different countries around the world, the Puerto de Ideas Valparaíso Festival offers a journey of profound human experience. Among its invitees can be the Eslovenian Filósofa Renata Salecl, she is among the commuters who have had the most influence since the present. His interdisciplinary work lies at the heart of philosophy, cultural studies, political ideology studio and psychological analysis. When they arrived at the festival, they were sent into society by the Envidia and the Celos.

Another of the international invitees is Elizabeth Horan, secretary and academic, who came together as one of the main specialists of the Obra Gabriela Mistral and published one of the most complete biographies of the Nobel Prize in Literature Mistral: I am alone quien me ama (Lumen, 2023). Even in the field of literature, together with the Peruvian magazine and writer Gabriela Wiener, her works have established her as one of the most provocative literary voices of the moment. Under her authority, she has addressed issues such as decolonization, racism, migration, identity and motherhood.

She was featured along with Colbún and Coopeuch on the list of thinkers who took part in the Puerto de Ideas Valparaíso this year, including the Peruvians Mario Montalbetti, poet and linguist, and the reconstructed film critic Isaac León Farías. These include the philosopher and philosopher Carlos Peña, the Argentine writer Javier Arguello, the Chilean storytellers Andrés Montero, Rafael Gumucio, the anthropologist Sonia Montecino and the historian Daniel Ramírez.

Exhibition and dance

In addition to talks and conferences, the public can carry out activities such as the Alberto Cruz exhibition in Valparaíso. Between the space and the image, dedicated to the father of Alberto Cruz Covarrubias (1917-2013), key figure of Chilean architecture, recipient of the Premio Nacional de Arquitectura in 1975, for his innovative strength that won the architecture with the poetry and the government dibujo. The exhibition, available at the Museo Baburizza, showcases artwork from her more emblematic projects as well as her small pieces and architectural plans. During my visit to the exhibition, I also had two conversations dedicated to his artistic and architectural commitment and his role as an educator and trainer.

Two spectacular dance performances were also realized in the Parque Cultural de Valparaíso. Opera by Puccini. Female voices from the Italian company Artemis danced under the direction of Monica Casadei, at home were four of Giacomo Puccini's heroes: Tosca, Madame Butterfly, Mimì and Turandot, combined with dance, orchestral music and electronics. For her part, the Sombras mechanic from the French company Naïf Production presents three craft skills that explore the human victims traveling through the city. With a mix of hip-hop and contemporary circle, in its beginnings it evokes a small humanity, without the intention of re-explaining human relationships, which are then transformed into a gestural poetry.

The program for the Puerto de Ideas Valparaíso 2024 festival, which includes more than 50 invitations and activities, is expected to take place on October 10 on the journey of puertodeideas.cl.
