Michigan live election results for the 2024 presidential election

CBS News rates the presidential race in the hotly contested state of Michigan as a wrong decision.

Michigan is home to voting demographics that both Trump and Harris have worked out in court, including Union workers and workers and black voters. The two candidates have visited the battleground state repeatedly – Harris visited 12 times in 2024, including with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, while Trump has appeared in the state 14 times this year.

The state has shifted sharply in its support for presidents over the past three election cycles, voting for President Biden in 2020, Trump in 2016 and former President Barack Obama in 2012.

A CBS News poll The poll, conducted in early September, showed Harris with a slight lead over Trump in Michigan, 50% to 49%, within the margin of error.

Polls in Michigan close at 8:00 p.m. local time. Because some Upper Peninsula counties observe Central Time, the first results will be announced starting at 9:00 p.m. ET when these polls close.
