Read Harris campaign manager's email to Democrats: 'We feel good'

Kamala Harris' campaign manager told her staff in an email that the “razor-thin” race still gave her hope as pundits increasingly suspected the Democrat would lose.

Jen O'Malley-Dillon sent the public email to eagerly watching staff in Wilmington, Delaware, the headquarters the vice president inherited from the president. Joe Biden.

And while the The New York Times moved closer O'Malley-Dillon said Democrats could still pull off a victory and were closer to a sure victory for Donald Trump and Nate Silver was completely counted.”

There wasn't much to feel good about elsewhere. North Carolina was tipped for Donald Trump and Georgia was trending his way. But O'Malley-Dillon and the Democrats continue to hope for high turnout in Philadelphia, a razor-thin lead in Michigan and the possibility that Wisconsin will have to wait until the night.

Subject: What we see so far

Team,
With polls closed across the country, I want to keep everyone updated on what we're seeing. As we always knew, this is a razor-thin race. Thanks to this great team, we've seen incredible turnout in the Battleground States, and the tightness of the race is exactly what we've been preparing for.
As we continue to see data trickle in from the Sun Belt states, we have always known that our clearest path to 270 electoral votes is through the Blue Wall states. And we feel good about what we see.

• In Pennsylvania, we exceeded turnout expectations in Philadelphia and our early voter expectations in Bucks County. We don't have Election Day results from Philadelphia, but we know we exceeded turnout expectations there and saw particularly high turnout in places with large populations of non-whites and students. We expect turnout in Philadelphia to be higher than in 2020. Outside of Philadelphia, we currently have limited turnout and support data, but what we have is in line with our expectations. We are waiting for further results (like everyone else!) and hope to have more detailed information in the coming hours.

• We expect a significant number of votes in Michigan. The city of Detroit won't be announced until around midnight, but we saw strong turnout there during early voting and on Election Day. Other results in Michigan are more difficult to analyze because the results are more fragmented than elsewhere.

At a wake party at Howard University in Washington DC, there was little to show but nervousness.

• In Wisconsin, we know there are significant numbers of votes remaining in Dane and Milwaukee counties, and we are seeing signs of strong performance in the WOW counties for which we have incomplete data. We don't expect full results from Wisconsin until between 3 and 5 tomorrow morning.

Polls just closed in Nevada and Arizona, so it's expected to be a while before we get more information from both states.
We have been saying for weeks that this race may not be run tonight. Those of you who were there in 2020 know this well: it takes time for all votes to be counted – and all votes will be counted. This is how our system works. What we do know is that this race won't come into focus until the early hours of the morning.

We will continue to update you as we receive further information. This is what we were made for, so let's finish what's before us tonight, get some sleep, and prepare to finish strong tomorrow.
