Christie says he would bet “about five dollars” on Harris

Former New Jersey governor and Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie said in an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos that he would “bet about five dollars” on Vice President Harris winning the presidential election.

“I would bet about five dollars on Harris today. For a guy from New Jersey, that’s not very convincing,” Christie said, according to Mediaite.

Christie also expressed skepticism that Trump would accept the election results if he lost.

“What is the evidence that he will do it?” asked Christie.

“All of a sudden now he’s going to embrace religion and accept it if he loses? I don’t think that’s the case,” Christie added.

However, the former governor said it “won’t be nearly as important as before” in 2020.

“Now I don't think it will be nearly as important as it was four years ago because he's not the president and his influence on what happens after the election is significantly less now than it was four years ago,” Christie said.

During the interview, Christie said he believes election results won't be announced until late Wednesday, claiming it will take a while in states like Pennsylvania, Arizona and Nevada because of vote-counting rules there.

Polling averages from Decision Desk HQ/The Hill showed Harris and Trump currently tied.
