Albany woman arrested on grand larceny and firearms charges

The Albany County Sheriff's Office said it arrested 33-year-old Amanda Eichas of Albany on Monday on grand larceny and firearms charges.

Their arrest followed an investigation and the execution of a search warrant, Sheriff Apple said.

Officers said they responded to a residence in the town of Knox on Saturday for a report of stolen jewelry.

Apple says they quickly discovered Eichas was the suspect through investigation.

They say Eichas was known to the victim whose jewelry was stolen.

According to authorities, following Saturday's incident, investigators executed a court-ordered search warrant Monday at Eichas' Albany residence and found an illegal, loaded Ruger 9mm semi-automatic firearm.

According to the sheriff's office, Eichas was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, one count of criminal possession of a firearm and one count of first-degree failure to safely store firearms.

Eichas was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Knox City Criminal Court on November 6th and Albany City Criminal Court on November 13th.
