North Carolina's agriculture commissioner is up for re-election while two other state incumbents wait

Incumbent Republican North Carolina Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler was re-elected to his sixth four-year term, defeating Democratic challenger Sarah Taber.

The Associated Press projected Troxler as the winner early Wednesday morning. According to the State Board of Elections, Troxler had 52.72% of the vote while Taber received 44.85% of the vote. Libertarian Sean Haugh had 2.42%

Two other State Council elections remain too close to be called.

Democratic incumbent North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall is leading Republican challenger Chad Brown in her bid to be re-elected to her eighth four-year term.

The Associated Press has not yet called the race, but with all precincts reporting this morning, According to the State Board of Elections, Marshall had 50.94% of the vote to Brown's 49.06%, a margin of 104,000 votes.

Republican Dave Boliek is leading Democratic incumbent Jessica Holmes in the race for comptroller.

The Associated Press has not yet called the race, but with all precincts reporting this morning, According to the State Board of Elections, Boliek had 49.46% of the vote to Holmes' 47.52%, a margin of just over 106,000 votes. Libertarian Bob Drach had 3% of the vote.

Election night results are unofficial and vote totals are likely to change in the coming days as local election boards consider provisional, military and foreign civilian votes. The state elections board is scheduled to meet Nov. 26 to certify the results.
