Fox News predicts Democrats will retain a key seat in battleground Michigan

The Fox News Decision Deck expects Democrats to retain a crucial Senate seat in battleground Michigan, in a hard-fought and expensive race that has attracted a lot of national money and attention.

Three-term Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin will defeat former Republican Rep. Mike Rogers in the race to succeed Sen. Debbie Stabenow, a Democrat who has held the seat for nearly a quarter-century.

The race was one of the few across the country that could determine whether Republicans regain the Senate majority in the 2024 elections.

Rogers is a former FBI special agent who later served as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee during his term in Congress. Rogers, a former GOP critic of former President Trump who was considering his own run for the White House in 2024, became a strong supporter of the Republican presidential nominee and won his support.
