Google accidentally revealed its AI agent that crawls the internet.

According to The Information, an “internal preview” of the AI ​​agent, internally called Jarvis, was briefly made available for download as an extension in the Chrome Web Store on Tuesday. The outlet reported that the extension was described as “a helpful companion that surfs the Internet with you.”

The prototype was downloadable but did not work due to access permissions. Later that day, the extension was removed from the web store.

The unintentional appearance of Jarvis in the Chrome web store confirms previous reports about what Google is working on.

The AI ​​agent is expected to surf the internet on behalf of users and perform tasks such as purchasing products and booking flights. Google reportedly plans to publicly unveil Jarvis in December alongside the latest version of its large language model, Gemini.

Google isn't the only one developing AI agents. Last month, Anthropic introduced a new feature for its Claude LLM that can essentially take over your computer to read and write JavaScript code. OpenAI is also reportedly working on AI agents.

In a recent Reddit AMA, OpenAI CPO Kevin Weil suggested that ChatGPT will have the ability to message users first and that executing tasks for users will be a “big theme in 2025.”
