Would you like to help? Organizations in North Alabama are holding fundraisers for hurricane relief

NORTH ALABAMA (WHNT) – Over 200 deaths have been reported from Hurricane Helene, and those numbers are expected to continue to rise. Communities and volunteer groups need your help now more than ever.

Police departments, rescue teams, churches and more are holding fundraisers right here at home for neighboring states that suffered devastating damage from Hurricane Helene. At these fundraisers, there is a specific list of items needed and everyone is encouraged to do so not Bring any items not on the list.

Governor Ivey visits the North Alabama Preschool Center

FEMA released a response refuting the rumors circulating. They say they do not confiscate donations or turn away volunteers.

Colbert County

Colbert County EMA, Muscle Shoals Fire, Tuscumbia Fire, Sheffield Fire Department, Colbert County Volunteer Fire Association and Lowe's are collaborating on a fundraiser for Carter County, Tennessee. The campaign runs until Tuesday, October 8th, and donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Donation locations and list of items requested are listed in the flyer below.

Franklin County

The Russellville Fire Department is partnering with local businesses in the area for its own fundraiser. The exact location where the donations will go is not known. There are three different locations to donate, open at different times.
