Queen Camilla wants King Charles to skip meeting Prince Harry: sources

King Charles III would like to meet his son Prince Harry when he visits the UK next week but is considering advice from advisers, including his wife, that it would be unwise.

Queen Camilla wants Charles to skip a meeting with Harry to avoid stress as he battles cancer, one of her friends told The Daily Beast.

Some of his advisers are also urging caution, notoriously fearing that constitutional problems could arise if Harry were to directly ask his father to intervene in his legal dispute over his security arrangements with the British government – technically “His Majesty's Government”.

Although neither side would definitively rule out or rule out a meeting when contacted by The Daily Beast, a tête-à-tête seems unlikely, despite a turn in relations that recently saw Charles send public birthday wishes to Harry on social media and Harry declined to update his memoirs, spare part, with new revelations for the paperback edition.

However, Charles will be in Scotland next week, The Daily Beast has confirmed, and has no plans to travel, while Harry is expected to be based in London.

Of course, it is not impossible that Harry could travel to Scotland if invited. He is certainly capable of traveling around the UK; The last time Harry was in the country, he spent a night at his mother's ancestral home, Althorp, and, The Daily Beast exclusively revealed, visited her grave, located on an island on the sprawling estate.

Harry's team would not confirm to The Daily Beast when he will arrive in the UK, where he will be staying or how long he plans to stay on British soil. The awards ceremony, which honors seriously ill children and is one of Harry's most important causes, is scheduled for Monday evening.

But Harry has made no secret of the fact that he is desperate to meet his father. The last time he was in Britain he publicly put the ball in his father's hands by issuing a statement saying he was disappointed not to meet him and hoped to do so in the future. The Daily Beast understands that this continues to be the case.

He wants the matter resolved, not just because he loves his two sons, but because it has had such a destabilizing effect on the monarchy.

Friend of King Charles

Meanwhile, Charles, reminded of his mortality following his cancer diagnosis for which he is undergoing grueling treatment, wants to heal his relationship with Harry both for personal reasons and to ease pressure on the monarchy itself, a friend says .

The friend said: “The king has an instinctive urge for Christian reconciliation and his cancer diagnosis has only intensified this.” He wants the matter resolved, not just because he loves his two sons, but because it is for the monarchy was so destabilizing.”

However, the king is understood to feel his hands are tied by the constitutional awkwardness that could arise if Harry directly championed his security arrangements.

The very clear views of his son and heir Prince William on his brother's matter are also part of the king's calculations about how and when a reconciliation might come about. Although William recently sent birthday greetings to Harry, the two brothers are completely estranged and no longer speak to each other because Williams is angry about what he sees in his memoirs as Harry's betrayal of him and his wife Kate Middleton.

Friends say Camilla is one of those who have not recommended meeting Harry as she does not want her husband to be subjected to unnecessary stress ahead of his trip to Australia in mid-October, before which he is gathering his strength at Birkhall, his retreat in the Scottish Highlands.

The trip has been restructured and drastically shortened given Charles' ongoing battle with cancer, and the king's health will be under scrutiny.

Camilla's friend said: “She was the main voice urging Charles to slow down and take things easy. “The last thing she wants is for him to get stressed out about meeting Harry.”

Charles has only met Harry in person once this year, when his son flew in to meet him at short notice immediately after his cancer diagnosis.

The Daily Beast understands that Camilla was also present at the meeting. This was the first time they had spoken in person since he hurled venomous slander at her in his memoirs and in interviews promoting it, saying she was prepared to “leave corpses on the street.” ” in her quest to be made queen.

Harry didn't apologize to her for his comments during that encounter, a friend of Camilla's told The Daily Beast.
