Welcome to Wrestling Inc.’s live coverage of “WWE SmackDown” on October 4, 2024, live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee!

After weeks of tension between them, Chelsea Green and Michin look to resolve their issues once and for all tonight when they collide in a dumpster match. The first person to throw their opponent into the dumpster and close the lid is declared the winner. Green and Michin previously met in the ring on the September 6 episode of “SmackDown”, where the former emerged victorious over the latter.

Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa of The Bloodline will put the WWE Tag Team Championship on the line by defending it in a Triple Threat Ladder Match against Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano of #DIY and Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins of The Street Profits. Tonga and Loa's last televised title defense was on the August 23 edition of SmackDown, when they faced Ford and Dawkins.

After some verbal altercations backstage on SmackDown last Friday, Women's Money In The Bank owner Tiffany Stratton will face Naomi. Naomi will certainly be extra motivated to get a win tonight after losing a Number One Contenders Match for the WWE Women's Championship to Bayley last week.

Additionally, AJ Styles will be appearing on tonight's show as he makes his first in-person television appearance in over three months. Fans will also get a special look at the tag team match between Roman Reigns and WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes and The Bloodline's Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu tomorrow night on WWE Bad Blood.

We are live! Michael Cole and Corey Graves welcome the crowd home as HARDY waits in the ring to welcome fans to SmackDown and introduce AJ Styles. Styles then makes his way to the ring.

We hear from AJ Styles

Styles says he misses the fans, then says it's only fitting that he's in Nashville tonight since that's where it all began for him. He says he's done a lot of things over the last few months that he regrets, but he's not here to talk about the past. He says he wants to rebuild his legacy and says SmackDown is still the house that AJ Styles built, even though a lot of people don't like him behind the scenes.

Carmelo Hayes' music hits and he makes his way out. He says he's not surprised that after all he's done there isn't a long line of people wanting to welcome Styles back, but he wanted to do it. He says he kept things low key while Styles was away and then says he's a big fan of his. He says he loves classic cars like him.

Styles interrupts Hayes and says that as someone who has shared a ring with LA Knight before, he knows what he's capable of. Hayes says that he doesn't need Styles' advice because he doesn't take the advice of up-and-comers (referring to Styles “I Quit” in his Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Bad Blood). Styles says Hayes isn't He's not the United States Champion and Hayes says Styles isn't phenomenal because he's not the undisputed WWE Champion. Then Styles challenges Hayes to a match, but Hayes refuses .

LA Knight's music hits and he makes his way out. He says he wants to talk to the fans and then makes fun of Hayes for wanting to run away from a fight like usual. He then takes a few shots at Styles, considering how long they've lived together, and says that Hayes is going to get knocked out tonight, whether it's by punching him four or five times in the mouth or that he accepts Styles' challenge with the understanding that if Hayes defeats Styles, he will give him a shot at the United States Championship.

Carmelo Hayes vs. AJ Styles – If Hayes wins, he has a shot at the United States Championship

The doorbell rings and the two lock up. Hayes fires punches at Styles, but Styles fires chops at Hayes in the corner and levels him with a dropkick. Styles catches Hayes with a back elbow and tries to land a springboard moonsault, but Hayes sees it coming and counters with a springboard crossbody. He goes for a pin, but Styles kicks out.

Hayes lands a suplex on Styles and goes for another pin, but Styles kicks out again. Hayes then tosses Styles out of the ring and gloats, then lands a couple right hands on him on the apron, sending him face first into the announce table as LA Knight watches from the announce table.

Back from the break, Styles attacks Hayes with a clothesline and then applies a forearm. He then hits a splash in the corner and a shoulderbreaker, but the referee calls for the bell after Styles grabs his leg, seemingly injured. Alicia Taylor then declares Hayes the winner of the match, but Knight surprises Hayes with a BFT.

Winner: Carmelo Hayes

Then Chelsea Green makes her way to the ring. Michin follows him with a trash can full of weapons in his hand.

Chelsea Green vs. Michin in a Dumpster Match

The bell rings and Michin tosses Green a kendo stick while holding one of her own. Green charges at Michin with the kendo stick, but Michin lands several shots on her and hits a tope suicida to take her down from the outside. She throws Green back into the ring and then grabs a chair, a trash can and a table under the ring.

Green goes to fly through the ropes to level Michin, but Michin stops her with a tray before she can and climbs to the top. She then lands a dropkick on Green and tries to throw her into the dumpster, but Green stops her and sends her crashing into the side of the dumpster. Then she lets her crash face first into the lid.

Back from the break, Michin lands a German Suplex on Green and tries to follow it up with Eat Defeat. Green blocks it and hits a Canadian Destroyer, then puts Michin in the dumpster and tries to close it. Michin stops Green from doing this, then repeatedly hits her in the head with a garbage bag from the dumpster and throws another one over her. She then hits Green across the back with one of the bags and tries to hit her back into the ring with a tray, but Green sees her coming and prepares for the Unprettier on top of the tray.

Michin avoids the maneuver, then connects with Eat Defeat and places a garbage can on Green's head. She then climbs up and gives Green a senton before placing a table on the dumpster. Piper Niven then appears at ringside and attacks Michin, then lands a senton on her and attempts to land a cannonball on her to trap her between himself and the dumpster.

Michin moves out of the way and sends Niven to the side of the dumpster. Michin and Green then start arguing on the apron, but Michin bombs Green through the table set up on the dumpster. She then closes the lid to win the match.

Winner: Michin

Corey Graves then provides an update on AJ Styles, informing fans that he was taken to a local hospital to be checked out on his injured ankle.

We then go backstage to Naomi as she prepares for her match later that evening. Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill come up to her, hype her up, and then tell her that she's going to have Bad Blood with them tomorrow night. Bayley then interrupts and shares some words of her own with Naomi.
