Paul Finebaum: “Does Alabama look better under Kalen DeBoer than under Nick Saban?”

It's never easy to replace a legend, and certainly not to replace her Nick Saban as head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide was no small task. Up to this point, however Kalen DeBoer has thrived in Tuscaloosa.

After the epic 41:34 win on Saturday evening GeorgiaDeBoer is on the rise. In fact, he makes the team play so well, as analyst Paul Finebaum said Sports center that he believes Alabama could look better under DeBoer than under Saban.

“There’s no way I’m going to play Alabama, no matter what you guys say this morning,” Paul Finebaum said. “It really doesn’t matter. I'm with the Crimson Tide. Whatever else there is to say, I'll go with that dominant performance here. For one half I would like to add. But they did what they had to do. I want to say something here on a Sunday morning that may sound blasphemous, but folks, I think I can tell you because you are men with great faith in college football. But does Alabama look better under Kalen DeBoer than it did under Nick? Saban?”

It's obviously unrealistic to compare the entire Nick Saban era to the first four games Kalen DeBoer coached. Saban's run in Tuscaloosa included six different national championships and an overall record of 201-29. At the same time, it's hard not to be impressed with what DeBoer has done with this Crimson Tide team, displaying an explosive offense to start the season.

The game against Georgia was DeBoer's first SEC game as head coach at Alabama. So even though it's still early in the season, he's already scored a big win.

Now Kalen DeBoer will try to keep his Alabama team focused heading into the duel Vanderbilt.

Paul Finebaum puts Saturday night's Alabama-Georgia game in the context of SEC history

The Alabama-Georgia game was an instant classic and, for Paul Finebaum, the best SEC game he has ever seen.

“I have covered the SEC for more than 40 years. You can see it here, but I think this is the best SEC college football game I've seen in all my years. “I know we often cling to being prisoners of the moment, but it’s an exaggeration to say we are in this case,” Finebaum said.

“You saw the trail. You saw the comeback. You've seen the end. It had everything you could have, including the fact that we have this rivalry in the SEC, two of the best teams in the country that may or may not play again. It had absolutely everything. What Kirby Smart What was said is correct, that applies to both schools, nobody left anything on the field. They did their best and when you ask who is the better team, the better team won, but next time it could be different.”
