UFC 307's Court McGee is excited about Tim Means matchup

Court McGee first made his UFC over 14 years ago. As he approaches his 40th birthday, there isn't much the Utah native hasn't seen in the cage. He's always been a guy who likes tough fights and wants to see the best in them. When the UFC called him up and wanted him to face fellow veteran Tim Means, he jumped at the chance.

“He’s fierce and he brings it. I like fighting these guys,” McGee explained, adding the added incentives. “I am not a film actor. I don't research fighters. And with Tim (Means) I don’t necessarily have to do that. He’s been in the UFC for a long time and I think we actually almost fought a couple of times.”

In addition to these advantages, he mentioned another one. Tim Means typically fights left-handed and McGee has had a lot of success with that in the past.

“I think it's great. I've usually had great success fighting southpaws. I have fought a lot of southpaws and train with a lot of southpaws,” he explained. “Since Tim is understandably a southpaw, this is perfect for me.”

McGee is feeling as good now as he has this year and with a match he likes, he is ready to perform in front of his hometown crowd. Although he respects “The Dirty Bird,” he feels he can get his first stoppage win in a while.

“He is combative and respectful. This is a great fight,” he said, adding the official prediction. “Interruption in the third round.”

McGee's bout with Tim Means opens the preliminary card of UFC 307. The fight card begins this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. EST on ESPN+.
