Clear skies provide the opportunity to see the Northern Lights in Metro Detroit

The pleasant weather will continue this weekend.

Saturday's night will be mostly clear, giving some southeastern Michigan communities a chance to see the northern lights. Low temperatures will be around 60 degrees in Detroit and over 50 degrees in Brighton, Ann Arbor, Flint and Sterling Heights. Lows will fall into the mid 50s in the Thumb. Winds will be from the southeast at speeds of 5 to 10 miles per hour with gusts up to 20 miles per hour.

Northern lights

The best chance to see the Northern Lights, also known as the Northern Lights, is between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. (WDIV).

The best chances of seeing the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, are between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. when you are facing north and away from the city lights. The geomagnetic storm is expected to be strong enough to make the Northern Lights visible as far away as Ohio.

Marine warnings

In southeastern Michigan, a storm warning is in effect for the waters of Lake Huron from Port Sanilac and northward until 10 a.m. Sunday. During the same period, a minor traffic warning will be in effect for the route from Port Sanilac to Port Huron.

Minor boating advisories are also in effect for the waters of Lakes St. Clair and Erie in Michigan until 10 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday

Clouds will develop for part of the morning Sunday as a cold front sweeps across southeast Michigan. A few showers are possible, but the chance will be mostly in areas north of I-69. Otherwise it will be a mostly sunny and warm afternoon. In most communities, highs will reach the mid-70s. West winds will be 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Clouds will form again Sunday evening as temperatures drop to the mid to upper 40s.

working week

It will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy all week. Monday through Thursday, highs will be in the 60s and lows will be in the 40s. By Friday, temperatures will rise to the high 70s.

Normal highs for next week will be in the mid 60s.
