Former Iowa Hawkeyes star catches first NFL interception

For five seasons, Riley Moss patrolled the Iowa Hawkeyes' secondary and became one of the Big Ten's best ball Hawks. Now he's doing the same thing for the Denver Broncos.

In the Broncos' win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon, Moss made his first career NFL interception by tackling Gardner Minshew down the sideline.

Moss also recorded four tackles on the day and has already totaled 33 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery this season.

The 24-year-old was selected by Denver in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Moss played a very limited role during his rookie season, playing in 14 games and finishing with just six stops. However, due to the departure of Pro Bowl safety Justin Simmons, Moss' playing time has increased exponentially this season.

The Ankeny, Ia. The local native began his college career at Iowa in 2018 and made an immediate impact with 24 tackles and a few interceptions. He took a step back the following year with just five tackles and two picks, but during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, Moss responded with 43 stops, two interceptions and a defensive touchdown in eight contests.

Moss continued to showcase his prowess in the Hawkeyes' defensive backfield in 2022, recording 39 tackles, four picks, one fumble recovery, five passes defended and two more defensive points. In 2023, he had 47 tackles, one interception and a pair of forced fumbles.

Moss was selected to the All-Big Ten twice.
