Are the Pittsburgh Steelers finally making a QB change?

PITTSBURGH – Will the Pittsburgh Steelers finally bench Justin Fields? If there are consecutive losses, the team has to make a decision. Honestly, they would have to make several decisions, but they are focused on one of them, which is whether or not Russell Wilson is ready to regain his throw as QB1.

It's hard to imagine that the Steelers were willing to hand Fields two straight losses and stick with him. The plan all along was to keep Fields on the field until he couldn't anymore. Then play Wilson, who was signed as the starter all along.

In a 3-0 start, they couldn't bench Fields. The offense grew and Fields grew with it. Now, after an 0-2 stretch, that offensive spark has faded, and Fields turned in the least impressive performance of his run, completing 15 of 27 passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

During the game's broadcast, sideline reporter Melissa Stark reported that Wilson should be ready to play in Week 6. This comes after he began increasing his practice participation last week and head coach Mike Tomlin said he was almost fully healthy.

The Steelers' plan from the start was for Wilson to take them as far as possible this season. They're depleted at running back right now and it shows, and their wide receiver core has more Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin than George Pickens.

The pieces of the puzzle are all jumbled together, but the easiest decision you can make in the NFL is at quarterback. And when a Super Bowl champion is ready to go, the pressure on the most important “solution” a team can achieve increases even more.

Fields probably didn't lose his job, the Steelers did, but two losses in a row is not acceptable for any team. The Steelers have decisions to make all week, and chances are the quarterback position will be one of them.
