On Friday, it was reported that a man was convicted of defrauding former NBA players Chandler Parsons and Dwight Howard out of a total of $8 million.

“A Georgia businessman was convicted Friday by a federal jury in Manhattan on five counts of defrauding former NBA players Dwight Howard and Chandler Parsons of a total of $8 million in 2021,” wrote ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. “Calvin Darden Jr. was found guilty of fraud, bank fraud, money laundering and two separate counts of conspiracy.”

As if that story wasn't crazy enough, Windhorst added that Parsons sent money to Darden in what the former NBA forward believed was an investment in the development of former Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman.

“Parsons was tricked into making a fraudulent investment in the career development of former No. 2 draft pick James Wiseman,” Windsorst wrote.
