A new trailer suggests the upcoming release is a musical!

The upcoming big screen version of Broadway's Evil has released a new trailer that, if you can believe it, is reminiscent of a musical! We've heard bits of “Defying Gravity” and “Popular” in previous trailers, but this new video plays out almost like a medley of the musical's songs, with large chunks of “Dancing Through Life” (featuring Jonathan Bailey) and “” “What Is This Feeling” is included for the first time. The trailer is released to coincide with ticket sales for the film, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 22nd. For tickets at a theater near you, visit WickedMovie.com. The film's soundtrack album, also released on November 22nd, is also available to pre-order and pre-save now. And remember: This year we're only getting the first part (or the first act for theater fans) with a second part film set to follow Thanksgiving 2025.

Also newly released: a poster that finally shows us stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande recreating the iconic Broadway logo.

Tony winner Erivo and Grammy winner Grande play Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. The cast is also joined by West End Pursue Olivier winner and Bridgerton Star Bailey as Fiyero, SpongeBob SquarePants Lead actor Ethan Slater as Boq, Emmy winner Peter Dinklage as Dr.

Stage and film star Keala Settle, SNLBowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Aaron Teoh and Colin Michael Carmichael also play new roles in the film adaptation of the musical, with Settle as Miss Coddle, Carmichael as Professor Nikidik, and Yang, James and Teoh as Shiz students Pfannee, ShenShen, and Avaric, respectively.

The film adaptation, which will feature new songs by Stephen Schwartz, is directed by In the heights Director Jon Chu. Evil Author Winnie Holzman wrote the screenplay and Tony winner Paul Tazewell designed the costumes.

Eviland adds a new backstory to the classic tale The Wizard of Ozdebuted on Broadway in 2003 and continues to be an audience favorite at the Gershwin Theater. The musical is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire and features music and lyrics by Schwartz and a book by Holzman. The original cast included Tony winners Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. The musical is now the fourth longest-running production in Broadway history.

The show won 2004 Tony Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Menzel), Best Costume Design (Susan Hilferty) and Best Set Design (Eugene Lee).
