Hurricane Milton gets a live update as a powerful storm makes landfall over Florida

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis told CBS News on Wednesday evening that state authorities were “absolutely” prepared for the arrival of Hurricane Milton.

“We have 50,000 linemen ready to quickly restore power,” DeSantis said. “We also have a full mobilization of the Florida National Guard and are receiving a lot of support from other states, so it will be the largest search and rescue operation we have ever conducted.”

We have places, even in the counties, that are in focus of the storm, that are inland, that are not vulnerable to storm surge but are hurricane-proof.”
