The 48-year-old, who led Senegal to its first-ever AFCON title in 2022, was relieved of his duties just days before the next round of 2025 AFCON qualification.

Despite leading Senegal to success, including in qualifiers against Burkina Faso and Burundi last month, the country's sports ministry has decided not to renew his contract.

SESSA games rebooted after a decade-long hiatus

After a ten-year hiatus, Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) games have restarted.

The Games, originally launched in 1987 to bring together Ghana's security services in sporting competitions, have historically played a key role in developing talent for national sports teams.

The 2024 edition will begin with the SESSA Athletics Open Championship which will take place on November 2nd and 3rd at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The event marks a new chapter in the sporting tradition of the Ghana Security Service and promises to revive the competitive spirit that has produced many national sporting heroes.
