What is the Biblical Star of Jacob prophecy and why is it going viral on TikTok?

People are predicting the return of Jesus after TikTokers claimed a Bible prophecy is coming true.

After an asteroid called 2024 PT5 entered Earth's orbit on September 29, a TikToker named Jacob Rutkowski claimed in a video that the “Star of Jacob” prophecy was coming true.

The teenager explained that “the star” was the one “seen by the three men who came to see the Messiah.”

He said, “They literally went to that star and found the Messiah and bowed down to him and worshiped him.”

But the “prophecy” has led to divided opinions on TikTok. Users pointed out that the star that the Magi followed is commonly referred to as the “Star of Bethlehem.”

Teenage TikToker Jacob Rutkowski claimed that the Star of Jacob is “literally going to be here for a month.”

Some suggested that Jesus himself was the star, while others said that the star of Jacob was not a literal star, but rather the return of the Messiah.

Jacob seemed to agree with the latter, suggesting that the Messiah would come sooner than most Christians believe.

In his viral video, the teenager started crying and said, “This star is not just an ordinary star.” This star shows us that our king is coming very soon.

“I don't mean hundreds of years, I'm talking about soon.” Very soon.

“I just pray that each and every one of you has a repentant heart.”

A TikToker named Julian James posted a video and said, “If you haven't heard, the Star of Jacob just appeared in the sky again.” This star hasn't been seen in over 2,000 years since the birth of Jesus.

He also claimed that the Earth was only 6,000 years old.

A TikToker named @the.bible.teacher said that he believes it is not a real star.

He quoted from the Bible and said, “Numbers 24:17: I see him, but not now; I see him, but not close.

“A star comes out of Jacob; A scepter rises up from Israel and shatters the forehead of Moab and the cornerstone of all the sons of Seth.

The Bible teacher interpreted this to mean that not a star would appear, but a “true and just king.”

But some weren't so convinced and said, “I hate to break it to you, but the star you all see is just Jupiter.”

Since the Star of Jacob began trending on TikTok, there have been several alleged sightings of the biblical phenomenon.

A UK-based user posted a video of a light shining in the sky and claimed it was the Star of Jacob.

He added the British flag emoji, prayer hands emoji and star emoji to his post.

Another user zoomed in on a star in the sky and said in the caption: “Star of Jacob?”

But one commenter apologized for bursting his bubble, saying: “That's a Sirius star.”

“We wouldn’t be able to see launches from years ago because our solar system doesn’t stay in one place and the Star of Jacob is a metaphor.”

Asteroid 2024 PT5 was first discovered on August 7 by NASA's Asteroid Terrestrial-Impact Last Alert System (ATLAS).

This “mini-moon” will begin its journey on September 29 and will make a single orbit around Earth before traveling on to other regions of the solar system.

Researchers tracking the “mini-moon's” trajectory predict that it will briefly settle in Earth's gravitational field by November 25.
