LONG ISLAND, New York – Dylan Guenther leads the NHL with four goals in two games and the Utah Hockey Club remains undefeated after a thrilling overtime victory over the New York Islanders.

The Islanders hosted the Utah Hockey Club in the franchise's first road game on Thursday, October 10th.

Guenther opened the season with two goals in Utah HC's season-opening win over Chicago and obviously wanted an encore. Trailing 3-2 in the third period, Guenther beat Semyon Varlamov for his first goal 46 seconds after the Islanders took the lead.

After another Islanders goal with 2:07 left, Utah's chances looked bleak. Josh Doan didn't hang his head; Instead, he chased down a puck on offense and beat Varlamov with 1:54 left in the game to force overtime at 4-4.

Less than three minutes into overtime, Guenther took a snap shot that beat Varlamov and gave Utah its first road win in franchise history.

Cooley, Guenther and McBain give Utah HC a strong goal line

It was business as usual for the Logan Cooley, Dylan Guenther and Jack McBain series. The trio created some of Utah's best chances and offensive zones in the season-opening 5-2 win over Chicago.

Utah Hockey Club history-maker Dylan Guenther picked up where he left off in the preseason and scored the first goal in franchise history.

After a beautifully orchestrated escape from his own zone by Logan Cooley, he threw the ball to Michael Kesselring, who fed Guenther near the slot and buried him with a quick one-timer.

“We have a little bit of everything on this line,” Logan Cooley said. “We have speed; We have a guy who can shoot the puck. Obviously he can create space for us with McBain. He’s always in front of the net, and when there’s always someone in the net, you have more room to shoot and see passes.”

Jack McBain also got involved later in the first half as the trio managed to position themselves inside the Blackhawks zone, creating another dangerous opportunity. After a little more patience from Cooley, he fired a shot into the net, which McBain deflected off the crossbar after fighting for a good position in front of the net.
