Melania Trump is “barely” visible in Donald Trump’s campaign – Fox News host

Fox News host Howard Kurtz said Sunday that former first lady Melania Trump was “barely visible” in her husband's recent presidential campaign.

During a Fox News segment, Kurtz highlighted Melania's low public profile when he asked Fox News analyst Kat Timpf if the timing of the release of Melania Trump's new memoir was “strange” since she “was barely visible in this campaign.”

Timpf responded that “it's a very strange time,” adding that the former first lady is “a very educated woman.”

“When she speaks, I feel like I’m listening because she doesn’t speak often,” Timpf said.

The former First Lady's memoirs, Melania, The film is scheduled to be released on October 8th and follows her Slovenian childhood, her fashion career and meeting her current husband, former President Donald Trump. Melania will also offer “behind-the-scenes stories of her time in the White House that shed light on her advocacy and the causes she cares about.”

Kurtz and Timpf's comments come just three days after Melania promoted the book in an interview with Fox News on Thursday, which was her first media interview in two years. As Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social account Sunday morning, Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt, who interviewed the former first lady on Thursday, will air an hour-long special segment on Melania tonight at 10pm ET.

Since leaving the White House, Melania has remained largely out of the public eye.

Unlike her second husband, Doug Emhoff, the wife of Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance, Usha Vance, and the wife of Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, Gwen Walz, who have made numerous public campaign appearances, she barely appeared on the campaign trail.

In July, Melania appeared at the Republican National Convention, where her husband was named the Republican nominee just days after the first attempt on his life, but she did not take the podium and speak.

In a 2023 interview on NBC News Meet the pressDonald Trump described his wife's political appearances by saying: “She is a private person, a great person, a very confident person, and she loves our country very much.” He also pointed out that she would join the campaign, when “it is appropriate.”

Newsweek submitted an online request to contact Melania Trump on Sunday.

As of Sunday, Melania is number 1 on Amazon book bestsellers. Readers can pre-order it now for delivery after the release date, which is less than a month before Election Day on November 5th.

Earlier this month, Donald Trump suggested during his speech at a campaign rally in Uniondale, New York, that he had not yet read the memoir, saying, “Go out and get her book.” She just wrote a book; I hope she said it well.” Things about (me). I don't know, I didn't know, so busy. She has just written a book called Melania. Go out and buy it, it's great.

In her Thursday Fox interview to promote the book, Melania described Donald Trump as a “family man” who was “kind and positive.” She also discussed the two attempts on his life, both of which she learned about on television. She told Earhardt, “I think something was watching over him. It’s almost like the country really needs him.”

Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, are engaged in an extremely tight race for the White House. Most overall polls show Harris ahead in the popular vote, but gridlock in several key battleground states is throwing Electoral College projections into disarray.
