Bryan Danielson retires and the biggest takeaways from AEW Wrestledream 2024 results | News, results, highlights, statistics and rumors

Bryan Danielson is one of the absolute best in-ring technicians to ever step foot in a wrestling ring. In every company he has ever worked at, The American Dragon has risen to the top for good reason.

It's a shame that he came to AEW towards the end of his career, leaving him with little main event time as AEW World Champion.

Luckily, he still got that chance and had the opportunity to tell the stories he wanted to tell in the ring, including that final fight against Jon Moxley.

This was the story of a man who refuses to give up and the man who knows him better than anyone who wants to put him out of his misery.

It was an incredible war that sold every second of the American Dragon's fight for his career. Few games have had so much emotion in every moment.

In the end, the Death Rider strangled Danielson with the bulldog, ending his longtime friend and rival's full-time career. Wheeler Yuta followed by suffocating his mentor with a plastic bag.

It's always possible that The American Dragon will have more matches before fully retiring, but this was the end of his time as a full-time wrestler.

This is likely the last time he will hold a championship or main event in a professional wrestling company. It's the end of an era for a talent that won't be replaced anytime soon.
