What's better than a country French omelette made just for you by Ina Garten at her home in the Hamptons? How about some chocolate cake to finish? Julia Louis-Dreyfus experienced exactly that treatment when she became the focus of the latest episode of Garden's Be my guestnow in its sixth season. The show can be watched on Food Network and also streamed on Max.

The show began with Garten preparing the omelet for the show Seinfeld And Veep Crisp the bacon and then fry the potato cubes in the remaining fat. The five eggs were refined with three tablespoons of milk and rounded off with bacon, potatoes and fresh chives after the omelette was cooked.

“Can I have the big half?” Louis-Dreyfus asked as she was greeted with the fluffy omelette. Garten noted that she knew of the comedian's fondness for salt. “If you just want to sprinkle the salt on the plate, I’ll eat the salt,” Louis-Dreyfus joked. Although we might recommend a little less salt, there are many ways to make an unforgettable omelet, with fillings ranging from pimento cheese to lobster.

Before indulging in a masterclass in frosting and piping a cake, the two sat down for a chat in which Garten continued to prove that her talents in the interview match her skills in the kitchen. They discussed the blessing contained in the Louis-Dreyfus Treaty Saturday Night Live was not renewed, where she was a cast member from 1982 to 1985. In addition to her work as an actress, Louis-Dreyfus has her own podcast, Smarter than mewhich brought the two together for the first time. Louis-Dreyfus said the commonality among all the women she interviewed for the podcast is that they are “completely comfortable in their own skin.” Garten agreed, saying, “It's like rocket fuel – it really gives you the freedom to do exactly what you want to do.” But the best takeout meal? When asked what it feels like to laugh with an audience, Louis-Dreyfus said, “It's like endorphins that you can taste.”

And the tasting wasn't over yet. Following her recipe for Beatty's Chocolate Cake, Garten presented Louis-Dreyfus with two chilled layers to top. It turns out that the actress herself is no problem in the kitchen. At the beginning of the episode, as the host, she gifted Garten a blood orange preserve made from the fruit of her own tree. She was also excellent at topping the cake with chocolate buttercream.

Garten gave the useful tip of lining the rotating cake stand with paper before decorating. This allowed the couple to avoid dirtying each other with blobs of icing while keeping the cake stand clean. When they were finished, Garten simply pulled the paper out from underneath the icing cake, resulting in a picture-perfect dessert.

The secret to the buttercream's rich chocolate flavor was 1 tablespoon of instant coffee powder along with 6 ounces of good quality chocolate. After making some improvements to Louis-Dreyfus's work, she praised her acumen and said she could do business in her spare time. “I prepared all the paperwork,” Louis-Dreyfus teased.

The episode ended with the cake tasting. “First of all, the cake part is off the chain, don't you agree?” Louis-Dreyfus said. “And the frosting is delicious to the tenth power.”
