RJ Davis suffers a back injury in the UNC basketball program's Blue vs. White scrimmage

Just three weeks before the start of the regular season, the UNC basketball program hosted its Blue vs. White matchup on Saturday afternoon in Chapel Hill.

Although the scrimmage was intended to give fans a first look at this year's team, it caused concern among fans about the status of star guard RJ Davis.

Early in the second half, Davis suffered a bad fall, which immediately led to coach Doug Halverson coming onto the court to check on him. The fifth-grader was able to get away under his own power and, as expected, did not return to the fight.

After the contest concluded, the UNC basketball program released an update on Davis, calling his injury a lower back contusion.

Davis, the reigning ACC Player of the Year and first-team All-American, plays a big role in the UNC basketball program's plans this season. His status for Tuesday night's show in Memphis will be kept under review, as he may be forced to sit out (or held out of precaution).

The initial information seems to indicate that Davis has avoided a serious injury, but his condition (and health) is definitely a concern for the UNC basketball program heading into the 2024-2025 season.
