The Biden administration's warning to Israel about military support

The Biden administration may restrict military aid to Israel if the humanitarian situation in Gaza does not improve within the next 30 days, according to a letter sent last weekend to Israeli Defense Minister Yaov Gallant and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer became. A US State Department spokesman confirmed the existence of the letter yesterday.

In the letter, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that under its own law, the United States must continually assess whether Israel is “directly or indirectly” obstructing the movement of U.S. humanitarian aid to Gaza. If that were the case, they warned that the U.S. could stop additional military funding, two U.S. officials and a defense official said.

Arrest of deaf black man with cerebral palsy is under surveillance

Public outcry is growing against two Phoenix police officers who repeatedly beat and insulted a deaf black man with cerebral palsy as he was being arrested outside a supermarket – a case an officer acknowledged this week that “deserves further scrutiny.” The Tyron McAlpin incident occurred in August but recently gained national attention when one of his attorneys released police body camera video and surveillance footage of his arrest.

According to a police incident report, the incident began on Aug. 19 when two officers responded to a 911 call about a fight at a Circle K convenience store. They spoke to a white man who a 911 caller said was the aggressor in the fight. That man, who had dried blood on his shirt, pointed to McAlpin, who was walking nearby, and said he was the person who attacked him. The two officers chased McAlpin and intercepted him in the parking lot of another business. After his arrest, McAlpin, 34, was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
