Helaman Casuga committed to Texas A&M

Provo, Utah Corner Canyon On300 quarterback Helaman Casuga announced his commitment to head coach Mike Elko and Texas A&M on Thursday.

The four-star junior chose the Aggies over an offer list that also included Washington and USC.

The On3 industry rates the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Casuga as the No. 14 signal-caller in the country and the No. 144 prospect overall.

“I think they’re building something special down there,” Casuga told On3. “Of course I want to be part of the Elko era. He did so many great things at Duke and now he's showing he's capable of doing it at an SEC school.

“That’s very impressive.”

Helaman Casuga is impressive on Friday night

As a sophomore, he completed nearly 65 percent of his passes for 4,145 yards and 34 touchdowns. In six games as a junior, he again completed 65 percent of his throws for 1,617 yards and 18 touchdowns with just two interceptions.

Commit No. 3 for the Aggies in the 2026 class, Casuga joins him at cornerback Ryan Gilbert and security Markel Ford. Offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Collin Klein was the primary recruiter.

“Coach Klein was in my shoes,” Casuga said. He won the Johnny Unitas Award and was the 2012 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. “He was a great quarterback when he played. I think he gets it and understands what a college quarterback does and goes through. I feel like I can identify with him.

“They are a great coaching staff and feel like family.”

The atmosphere in College Station put the Aggies over the top

Casuga attended the Notre Dame game and wants to play in that environment at Kyle Field. He made a silent commitment this weekend and is now going public with his plans.

“The 12th Man is crazy,” Casuga said. “They love Aggie football and are dedicated.

“It’s a culture down in Texas. I think it’s special to be part of something like that.”

Other schools that offered Casuga included Arizona, Auburn, BYU, Nebraska and Utah.

“It’s more than just football,” Casuga said. “I'm looking for a family that makes me feel at home and in a place that my family loves! Also where I can expand my training! And of course to exceed my football skills.”

He found it at Texas A&M.
