Jelly Roll reveals he lost 100 pounds: diet and exercise secrets

Jellyroll revealed that he was “inspired” to “focus” on his health and as a result, he has “officially lost a hundred pounds.”

“It was all food. I train, I go for walks. But what I've learned is that as I lose weight, I naturally just want to go for walks and do more things because I'm lighter. I feel better,” said Jelly, 39, real name Jason DeFord – he proudly declared during an Oct. 11 appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

The “Save Me” singer had the help of his band members and team when it came to weekly training as they toured and played numerous NBA arenas.

“We play basketball three days a week now,” Jason said of his new favorite activity.

The CMA winner called it the “coolest act of love” and got emotional as he revealed, “My whole band watched me battle addiction… They watched me slowly figure out my life and they knew that the last mountain for me was the food.” ”

Jelly trained “every day by running around the arenas,” and he and his bandmates “host full-blown tournaments.”

Additionally, the Nashville, Tennessee native is “hitting the gym now.” When it comes to his health, Jelly enthuses: “I've never been so worried. “I’ve never cared more.” I’ve never been happier.”

Jelly plans to continue losing weight after noticing noticeable changes to her body and reveals: “I feel so good if I just lose 100 pounds.” I'm about 420 now. I walk the other way around, I talk differently, my shoulders are set differently, I move me differently.”

In addition to exercising, the “Wild Ones” singer hired a “real nutritionist.” I only eat his food.” Jelly’s daily diet now only consists of eating twice a day with a “fruit snack in between”. He also fasts around the clock once a week and practices intermittent fasting when possible.

Jelly became emotional as he recounted this at his greatest age: “I weighed up to 557 pounds. I had to weigh myself at butcher shops.”

Jelly described himself as “a lifelong food addict” and explained how his entire mindset has now changed.

“Like a drug addict, I scanned the room and counted everything I could eat,” he recalled of immediately looking for food when entering rooms.

“The other day I was in my green room and someone picked up a piece of candy and said, 'Do you want one of these?' and I didn't even know the candy was in there. And that was the first time I thought, 'I'm on the trail.' I'm fucking winning right now.” I didn't even scan for candy. When I go to places, I don't even think about it anymore. This was literally one of the first things I looked for. I had to make so many different little habit changes,” he shared.

Jelly revealed in 2018 that he was still struggling with overeating, which caused him to gain back 60 pounds that he had previously lost. The country star decided to “start over and fight my lifelong demon again.” He hired a health mentor and began posting weekly weight loss results on YouTube.

“I have suffered from obesity since I was a small child. All I've ever experienced is being fat and I'm fucking miserable,” he wrote on Instagram. “I want skydiving, bungee jumping, bull riding, parasailing, roller coaster rides, I want to live a normal life and have a normal relationship with food. I battle addiction and alcoholism every day.”

However, Jelly's weight continued to fluctuate with losses and gains over the next few years.

In April, fans noticed that Jelly had lost weight during a performance at the CMT Music Awards.

“I've probably lost around 30 pounds,” Jelly shared in an April 13 interview People. “I really had a blast, man. I run two to three miles a day, four to six days a week. I go to the sauna for 20 to 30 minutes and a cold bath for six minutes every day. I’m eating healthy right now.”

He also said he was feeling “really good” and hoped to lose another “100, 100 pounds.”
