Rivals Roundtable: Discussing the busiest weekends

It's another monster weekend of recruiting visits, especially in Austin where UGA visits Texas, and our analysts discuss the top visits coming up today.

1. What is the biggest recruiting visit this weekend?

John Garcia Jr.: Five-star DE Javion Hilson in Texas. Texas has the game of the weekend in town, with a real chance to establish itself as the No. 1 team in the country for granted should it take on Georgia at home. Many top recruits will be in town, but there's a chance to solidify things with Hilson, the best available prospect in the class. He had been to Austin before and thought hard about the Longhorns after an official visit, but held back. Now he can answer a few important questions on the way back to the city, all in the midst of an unforgettable atmosphere. Texas A&M is the only other trip on Hilson's visiting list moving forward, giving UT a chance to make an impact on and off the field.

Adam Gorney: Texas will be the epicenter of the college football world this weekend and five-star defensive end Justus Terry will be in Austin. It could be a battle between Georgia and Alabama until the end, but the five-star has a goal of getting all the way to Texas, and if the Longhorns really impress him against Georgia, then he might get a seed in his head planted because there are other options available than just the Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide. In the end, one game may not matter to Terry and his two favorites may not change, but the atmosphere in Austin will be electric and it will be a new place for him to see – and determine if the Longhorns are one Candidates for his recruitment could be a surprise.

Marshall Levenson: Five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry will spend the weekend in Austin to watch the Longhorns' game against Georgia. There are some heavyweights in play for Terry, including Georgia, Alabama and others. Texas looks to be the best in college football this season and will have plenty to impress Terry. A strong visit could certainly boost her status in Terry's recruitment. Since they would land elite prospects at every position on the field and add a five-star defensive lineman, they would be over the top.

Greg Smith: Immanuel Iheanacho's visit to Tennessee piqued my interest. The big (6-7, 340) offensive tackle didn't make it last week as planned, but quickly rescheduled the visit for this weekend. This will be a highly competitive recruiting with Penn State, Alabama and many SEC schools also pursuing him. The opportunity to acquire David Sanders in this class and then follow him with Iheanacho would make Vols fans jump for joy.

Sam Spiegelman: Isaiah Campbell to Tennessee. Four-star North Carolina defensive end Isaiah Campbell reopened his recruitment last month after a long stint at Clemson. The following weekend, Campbell was back in North Carolina as the Tar Heels and Tennessee made a strong push toward the finish line with the No. 5 defensive tackle in that class's Rivals250. Campbell returns to Rocky for an official visit this weekend as the entire defensive staff as well as head coach Josh Heuple Continue to push all the right buttons with Campbell and his family. As the Vols look to add some final pieces to their star-studded 2025 class, Campbell has built a top-priority list and was given the opportunity on his second-to-last visit to take a huge step forward before making a final decision.

2. Which school can most help their recruiting efforts with a big win this weekend?

University of Texas

John Garcia Jr.: Louisville. The Cardinals started the 2024 season strong enough to make some noise, and now an undefeated top-10 Miami is coming to town. Meanwhile, Louisville has assembled a strong recruiting list for this weekend, and it could be a field forward scenario if it breaks through on Saturday. For almost every prospect in town, unforgettable would be an understatement to say the least. More importantly, the ACC appears to be winnable compared to last year, and a Cardinals win would even the odds – at least in the loss column – of defeating one of the league's last two undefeated programs (Pitt). Add to that the 12-team playoffs and the fact that the league is feeling more and more open as the season progresses, and this could be a clear turning point for the better Jeff Brohm and companies.

Adam Gorney: Texas traveled to Alabama last season and won convincingly. Now the Longhorns host Georgia in college football's biggest game of the year so far, and it's another opportunity for the coach Steve Sarkisian to prove there's a new sheriff in town. There will be plenty of five-star players in attendance, plenty of elite four-stars, plenty of young talent and then it will be the most-watched game of the weekend, so if Texas can beat Georgia, if the Longhorns can break it down convincingly Nick Saban And Kirby Clever Then, in successive seasons, recruiting should deviate from the norm.

Marshall Levenson: There's really only one real answer this weekend when you consider the importance of a single match, and that will be in Austin, Texas, when the Longhorns take on Georgia. The list is extensive and just a handful of the main characters are enough to make the case easy. Five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry, Javion Hilson and four-star wide receiver Michael Terry are the top uncommitted targets. A handful of flip targets are pursuing the Longhorns, including four-star wide receiver Kelshaun Johnson of Texas A&M and four-star defensive tackle Kevin Wynn of Florida State.

Greg Smith: Indiana has a great opportunity this weekend. The program sold out for the Big Noon Kickoff game against Nebraska for the first time since the 2021 season. The atmosphere should be exceptional and there will be many recruits available. That includes 2026 four-star inside linebacker Cam Thomas, who is coming off a good visit to Illinois. Flip target Tyrone Burrus will also be on campus.

Sam Spiegelman: Texas will host the biggest game of the college football season so far this weekend. The Longhorns are expecting a large group of blue chippers from across the state of Texas and the Southeast at the 40-acre site. Notable top players expected include official visits from five-star defensive player Justus Terry, four-star athlete Michael Terry and four-star defensive player Joseph Mbatchou from Florida, as well as an unofficial visit from four-star DL Kevin Wynn.
