SMU Mustangs vs. Stanford Cardinal Prediction, Odds and Tips

As we continue to familiarize ourselves with the conference landscape, let's take a look at the SMU Mustangs vs. Stanford Cardinal prediction for today's ACC matchup. Two teams west of the Mississippi participate in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Enjoy! One of these teams is really good; the other is really bad. That should make betting on this game very easy, and considering it starts at 8:00 p.m. ET, we have a good chance of securing some of the final bets of the day. Standford has lost a total of three games in a row, including ugly defeats – at Notre Dame, at home against Virginia Tech and at Clemson. SMU, on the other hand, is heavily in the hunt for the conference title game and will likely be the favorite in its final six games (and it doesn't play Miami or Clemson). The Mustangs are in a great spot and I think they'll roll on Saturday. My choice between SMU and Stanford is SMU -16.

The Ponies are effective on both sides of the ball. Their defense can take advantage of opportunities to force turnovers because their offense is so strong. The defense is also very strong against the run, ranking in the top 20. They should make the Cardinals a one-dimensional offense on Saturday due to both the strong rush defense and high-scoring offense. That's not good news for Stanford, as its offense doesn't have the firepower necessary to participate in a shootout. The Cardinals have given up 120 points in their last three games and SMU might be the best offense they've ever seen. This game should be a loss. The number is already high, but it will likely rise as Saturday approaches. That's why I grab it early.
